Sunday 24th June saw Belvoir Archers host the first “2 and 3 shoot”
The “2 and 3 Shoot” was developed to help develop archers and give 2nd and 3rd class archers a stepping stone into archery tournaments with out having the “big guns” there hammering the middle of the boss.
2nd class archers shot a Short National – 50/40 yards
3rd class archers shot a Junior National – 40/30 yards
With it only being a 6 dozen round, starting after lunch and shorter distances, it caters for all abilities.
There were plenty of categories to shoot in, 2nd class gents recurve archers shot against 2nd class gents recurve, 3rd class recurve gents shot against 3rd class recurve gents – and so on. This means that each class of archer shot against people of similar standards. Awards down to 3rd place in all categories were awarded.
Free Tea/Coffee and water were provided.
To keep the shoot lower key and fun, there were no formal judges at the shoot. Instead, the shoot was guided by Bryan & Sue Haynes and Michael Thomason.
The Lord Patron and Sponsor of the shoot was Tony Drabble of Custom Built Archery.
19 archers came to shoot, some their first tournament. The weather was kind to us all. Everyone who came enjoyed the day and have asked for a similar shoot again – so rather than wait for next year, Belvoir Archers are putting on another shoot on Saturday 1st September 2018.
If you have any club archers who are 2nd or 3rd class, encourage them to come along and try a competition
