2017 WA720 round

It was an interesting shoot at the weekend, the wind was a bit tricky to say the least.

76 archers remained registered on the Friday night (there were numerous changes though the days leading up to the shoot) and 70 archers actually braved the weather. Continue reading

6th Summer Windsor Results

Well, what a day.  For a change this summer, we had sunshine (lots of it) and little wind.
The day went well, with 2 National Records being shot (Subject to ratification) by Jenny Bryan and by 2 fletching Bernie Dicks who shot a perfect score (even though he finished with 2 fletchings on most of his arrows).  Continue reading

2015 Winter Windsor

Saturday saw Belvoir Archers host their 5th Winter Windsor.  The weather gods were with us, so was Bernie Dicks on his 50 (again) birthday.  We had a record breaking 68 archers booked in for the October shoot, with only 2 non shows on the day.

The Lord Paramount for the day was Chris Joyce, Chairman of Belvoir Archers, and our Judges were Mario Stankovic and Christopher Lowe (on his last formal judging duty in Belvoir Archers before the family depart for their new lives in Australia in January).

Everyone shot on our new foam layered targets, funded by recent training venue grant by Sport England.  Some Regional and County records were broken or equalled, which means more work for Sue Haynes our County and Regional Records Officer.

Darren, who had only finished his beginners course 5 weeks ago, shot for the first time and took a number of photos which can be seen here   WINTER WINDSOR PHOTOS

Belvoir Archers Indoor Season

The summer season is all but over, the nights are drawing in and the wind is getting chilly.  The field will still be available during the winter for outdoor shooting if you so wish.  I would not advise shooting if it is below freezing as it may damage the structure of your bows – especially the longbow archers amongst us. 3rd Winter Windsor 2013 ~ RESULTS

The club held their 3rd Winter Windsor on Sunday 20th October.  The weather was fairly kind to us,with the rain holding off until Sue presented the Ladies Recurve Trophy to Ruth Welsh of The Foxes (I think it was Sue’s tears at not winning), how ever the wind did prove challenging to some.  Simon Holmes did try to convert his compound into a weather vane by throwing it up the field to see which way the wind was blowing.. 3rd Summer Windsor

The 3rd Summer Windsor is now upon us.  We have 49 archers from around the region shooting, with the furthest guest coming from Aardwolf Archers in Sheffield and Silver Spoon Bowmen in Spalding.

We are set for a scorching day, so wet floppy hats, sun screen and lots of water is the flavour of the day.

Once again, Maurice Clarke has produced a unique Castle trophy, which we have yet to see.

Abbydale Archers shoot report

On Saturday 6 April Steve Gamble attended the longbow Western hosted by Abbeydale Archers near Sheffield on what was the best shooting day so far this year. Of course it was the wrong sort of sun and quite distracting at full draw ( excuse #1)
This is a lovely ground to shoot at, even if it is a bit hilly (excuse #2…)
And the company was good (but distracting, excuse #3)
Awards were BLBS style with Steve’s 492 being good enough to win the Easter egg for best score.

New Members ~ Alex Bridges and Heidi Walker

Following successful completion of our indoor course at Cotgrave, we are pleased to welcome Abby’s dad ~ Alex Bridges to Belvoir Archers and Heidi Walker to Belvoir Archers Juniors.
