The club held their 3rd Winter Windsor on Sunday 20th October. The weather was fairly kind to us,with the rain holding off until Sue presented the Ladies Recurve Trophy to Ruth Welsh of The Foxes (I think it was Sue’s tears at not winning), how ever the wind did prove challenging to some. Simon Holmes did try to convert his compound into a weather vane by throwing it up the field to see which way the wind was blowing..
We did have a number of new archers with us this year, I hope that they all enjoyed the day, but we did manage to coax Tony Drabble out of retirement in his nice warm shop to shoot his compound on Boss no 1 – yes folks, it was not a mirage!
We would like to thank our judges Mario and Pher for helping the day go well and Maurice Clarke for his new designed trophies for the day. Unfortunately Maurice was not well and could not be our Lord Paramount for the day, but Mike Thomason of Wilford Wanderers oops Wilford Bowmen did stand up to the plate and did us proud.
Congratulations to all who came and shot, we hope you enjoyed the day and we are looking forward to seeing you next year – dont forget that the Summer Windsor is UK Record Status and we have entries coming in already.
