Yesterday saw Belvoir Archers first open tournament the Summer Windsor, held at Barnstone. It was a hot day, with a bit of a tail wind. A total of 54 archers took part and enjoyed the day. Not only was it a first for Belvoir Archers, but also our judge for the day, Andrea Hammond, it was her first solo outing as a county judge. Andrea said she had a bit of stage fright at the beginning, being faced with 54 armed and dangerous people, but soon got the better of them with her sharp whistle. The event was suppored well by Julie Mark – our Lady Paramount and patron at the Barnstone Country Club. Many a happy face was spotted walking our of her establishment munching on a bacon sandwich in the morning, pie or scampi & chips at lunch, and a well earned pint of Belvoir Brewery’s Old Dalby at the end of the day. Sue had a heart stopping moment when the laptop crashed just as she had finished inputting all the results, but she was rescued by Bryan – her husband, IT Kinght in Shining Armour and Tournament organiser. Bryan only had one major panic through the day, that was just after fixing the laptop, Dave Seymour came into the gents toilets to wind Bryan up telling him that the laptop had crashed again, Sue was frantic and all the reults were lost, to which Bryan replied “##########!!!!!!” – thanks Dave for that – you got me!!!
Once again, we would like to thank all of you that came along to support us on our first tournament, Andrea Hammond as Judge, Julie Mark for her hospitality and the members of Belvoir Archers who were whipped into shape by Bryan for weeks before and on the day, You all pulled together to make it go well.
A special thank you goes to Maurice Clarke of MGC Designs who provided the hand-made winner trophies.
We are all looking forward to greeting you again on October 16th for our Winter Windsor, and the date for our 2nd Summer Windsor in 2012 will follow soon.
