Today saw the start of the target outdoor season for two of Belvoir Archers members. Mark Charlish and David Seymour went to Wolverhampton Company of Archers Annual Open Spring Shoot. Both shot the York round with their longbows. The weather, as usual, (how do they manage that) was warm and sunny with hardly a breeze. Perfect shooting conditions.
Off the back of two bad seasons Mark was trying out his new bow and new technique. He shot over 200 and whilst not a PB feels as though the “come back” is on! Dave having recently come out of his winter hibernation managed to scrape a very creditable 377 and post the first of the required 3 MB scores to enable him to retain his MB classification.
Oh the third man in the tent was their regular shooting amigo – Mark Allsopp, the Derbyshire team captain who shot a GMB, which was touch and go after nerves got the better of him in the last dozen and in his own words he turned to jelly.
A good day was had by all and WCOA must be commended once again on putting on a magnificently well organised and well run shoot – we shall be back next year to start our April tans.
